I used to think of lawyers as ambulance chasers. And many are, I suppose. But how many “greedy lawyers” do you actually know?
My husband is a personal injury lawyer. I made fun of him and teased him on our first date. I actually called him an ambulance chaser to his face.
He responded with stories of injured people whose lives and the lives of their family members had been changed forever. And how their insurance company or the insurance company of the person who was at fault would refuse to acknowledge the severity of their injuries and often refuse to pay some or all of their medical bills. I had no idea. I was shocked.
He told me that these people need an advocate, someone who understands the law, who can help them navigate the legal process and get what they deserve. Not a jackpot. Not a lottery. Just the fair compensation that they should be entitled to.
We have been married almost five years now. And I have met many of his clients. I have seen their injuries. I have heard their stories. Many are heartbreaking. I am proud that my husband works on behalf of these individuals and helps them in any way he can…..so they can regain their lives and maintain their dignity.
