Wal-Mart critics believe they have found a chink in the retail giant's armor after overcoming a massive lobbying effort in Maryland and forcing the company to provide better health care benefits for its workers.
Experts on both sides of the issue said a Maryland Legislature vote last week requiring Wal-Mart to increase health care spending will trigger support in other legislatures and even bring attention to Wal-Mart policies in this year's elections.
