Illinois State Police arrested clerks at six stores in Granite City and Pontoon Beach during a sting conducted Thursday.

Agents visited seven stores where a minor working with police attempted to buy alcohol . . .

The clerks were released with notices to appear in court.

A 12-mile span of Highway 40 slated for reconstruction won't shut down all at once, but stretches of it still might close during the work.

Pete Rahn, director of the Missouri Department of Transportation, said Tuesday that the two teams competing for the project to rebuild Highway 40 are not considering the option of closing the whole road from Interstate 270 to Kingshighway.
